Tenant Subdomains in TanStack Start With Router Rewrites

We moved every BugDump portal from bugdump.com/p/acme-store to acme-store.bugdump.com without moving a route file: TanStack Router rewrites the URL on the way in and on the way out. An output rewrite that edits its URL sends links to the wrong host, navigate() can't cross origins, and a wildcard Workers route runs in front of every Custom Domain in the zone.

JavaScript Error Tracking for Small Web Apps: What You Actually Need

Error tracking for a small web app comes down to four things: catch what breaks, group the repeats, read the stack in your own code, and keep the minute before the crash. How each one works in the browser, what to throw away, and when you need a full monitoring tool.

Localizing an Embedded Widget: Page Language or Browser Language?

An embedded widget can read the page's html lang, the visitor's navigator.languages, or what the site tells it. They often disagree. The order we chose for BugDump's widget, why the page goes first, and the small things that broke along the way.

Three quarters of our SDK was code almost nobody ran

A third-party widget that ships 450 KB to every visitor has to justify it. Ours couldn't. Here's the measurement, the fix, and the thing about defer that turned out to be wrong.

Works on my machine: a field guide to unreproducible bugs

"Cannot reproduce" is not a property of the bug. It is a statement about the difference between two machines. There are only about eight such differences, and each one leaves a distinct fingerprint.

How to capture console logs and network requests from a user's browser

DevTools is open on the wrong machine. Here's how to instrument console, errors, fetch, and XHR so a user's browser can tell you what actually happened — and the traps that make naive implementations break the page they're monitoring.

    Session replay without the surveillance

Session replay has a reputation problem, most of it earned. Here's how we use it — scoped to a report, redactable by the user, and off with one line.
